12-28-97:  I just picked up my first pinball machine -- Gottlieb’s BLACK HOLE.  You can’t really call a Baby PacMan a pinball machine, it’s more like a misfit, half video game the other half pinball machine.  I picked this game up from an operator in Louisa, Virginia.  It’s not working.

The head has near if not over 100 bulbs in it -- most of which are burned out.  :(

As you can see from the pictures above and to the left the playfield glass has some dirt (mud) on it.  I have no idea how it came to be in that condition.  This game also has a lower playfield which is visible in the above picture (which is the playfield upside down) as the blue area near the top (bottom) below (above) the flippers.  It would have been easier if I had place the cabinet on the dolly in the right direction or flipped the picture around.  The game has 6 flippers total -- 2 on the lower level and 4 on the upper level.

In the picture to the right, I’ve started restoration.  I’ve removed the spinner in the head and have also removed the MPU from the head.  Water got in here somehow too.  Normally, you worry about battery cancer getting to the MPU but in this case it was water damage.  You can see an example of the damage in the pictures below.

The water damage is shown above (around the large chips in the middle of the board) and below (in the right middle of the board).  I don’t think it’s repaiable, but I have sent it to Joe Connor @ Coin Service Tech in Philadelphia.  He quoted me a price of $150 to repair or exchange this board.  You can reach him at 215-464-2007.

I found a manual for the pin in rec.games.pinball. Paul Watchtel in Ohio even sent it to me COD!  Thanks again -- Paul!

I’ve repainted the black portion of the head, removed, cleaned and waxed all plastic from the playfields, cleaned the playfield glass.  I still have many things to do -- cleaning the cabinet, replacing rubber rings, replace knocker coil (only one that looks burnt), replacing the MPU and a million light bulbs.

I’ve got the BH/HH Repair Book by Cook and Joe Connor exchanged my MPU.  No I’ve noticed a Transistor missing from the power supply board --- it’s on order but isn’t expected in until the first week of February.

I have more pictures that still aren’t developed that I’ll post later.  I’ll also post more as I get more done to the pin.  Thanks for stopping by!
